Points Scoring System

  • The (adult) major prize (TBC) with Te Anau Helicopter Services, and more will be by barrel draw under police supervision.  This will be in the form of a shoot-out involving 4 random entrants who weighed in all 3 species.
  • Points will be worked out from the weight of the deer and the pig. The heaviest of each pig & deer will be allocated 100 points (each), the second heaviest pig or deer will be given 99 points, third 98 points and so on.

  • If you catch a fish, then you will automatically be allocated 100 points.  If you don’t catch a fish, then zero points will be given (and your team will not be eligible for the major prize).

  • There are separate prizes for the team with the:
    * Heaviest Deer
    * Best Antlers (Highest Douglas Score)
    * Heaviest Pig
    * Best Tusks

  • There will also be some spot prizes to be won on the day for teams and individuals.

  • Because of the vast expanse allowed for competitors to compete in, no formal monitoring of competitors is appropriate.

  • If an emergency situation arises then competitors should phone 111 and go through the usual channels.

  • It is recommended that boaties using Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri should check in with Bluff Fisherman’s Radio on VHF Channel 63.

  • Remember to secure all firearms as per the required laws and regulations.

There will be a Police presence throughout the weekend – including at weigh in and at prize giving.

While a courtesy coach will available while the bar is open, it would be appreciated if you could organise your own sober driver.

Any questions should be directed to the tournament management via email fiordlandbig3@gmail.com
