The Te Anau Santa parade is a popular family day out on the 12th of December which is organised by Santa's Little Helpers.
The parade which some say is the "best in Southland" attracts visitors from all over Southland. Many floats, cars, tractors and people form the parade which starts at Bligh Street at the top end of the Town Centre. Of course Santa makes an appearance in the parade and is at Lions Park afterwards for photos and to be given letters with those most important present wish list on them. The parade starts at 2pm and the floats are parked at Lions Park afterwards for everyone to have a close look at.
Fun in the Park
Before and after the parade is Fun at the Park. There are rides which are subsidised by Santa's Little Helpers at $2 per ride. This make it affordable for everyone to enjoy the day out. There is also food stalls, chocolate wheel and entertainment. The entertainment is a show of talent in Te Anau icluding Highland Dancing, Wearable Recycled Christmas and the Waimatuku Pipe Band. The Local Te Anau Volunteer Fire Brigade have a demonstration of a part of what they train for.
Fun at the Park is held at Lions Park and begins at 12.00pm and runs until around 4pm
